Committees

The success of CBS depends on the innovation of our members who bring their ideas to the table by participating in CBS' committees.  CBS' committee system allows CBS members to participate in the day-to-day running of the shul by getting involved in specific matters of importance to them.  We encourage all members to become active in the CBS community by joining committees that interest them.

Building Committee: Our Building Committee meets periodically (and virtually) to constantly review building systems updates and upgrades, as well as building planning.  The Building Committee's next project will focus on adding a Sephardic Beit Midrash and upgrading the youth and office areas of the synagogue's ground floor.

Youth Committee: Our Youth committee oversees all youth programming at CBS and the CBS youth personnel.  Visit the CBS Youth page for more info.

Ritual Committee: Our Ritual Committee reviews and updates the synagogue's services, religious objects and spiritual personnel.

Welcoming Committee: The Welcome Committee reaches out to welcome new members to CBS and delivers a gift upon joining.

Nominating Committee: Our Nominating Committee meets annually to select members to be added to, or to remain on, the Board of Trustees as well as the Executive Board.

Security Committee: Our Security Committee reviews, implements, and enforces security measures by engaging with outside professionals hired as well as volunteer members who participate every week.

Bikur Cholim: Through the Shirley and Harrold Bogdonoff Bikkur Cholim, the CBS community offers support for the sick and elderly in the community.   Visit the CBS Bikur Cholim page for more info.

Shiva Committee: CBS provides support for mourners during the week of shiva and beyond.  The CBS shiva committee helps to ensure that a minyan is present at the shiva of each mourner in our CBS community.  Learn more about death and mourning at CBS.

Chevra Kadisha: CBS clergy, staff, and volunteers work together to support our members during times of loss. The volunteers in our Chevra Kadisha provide resources and support to members of the CBS community following a death.  Learn more about death and mourning at CBS.
